Many of those responsible for the project mismanagement and cost overruns for the Johnson Street Bridge fiasco are now getting ready to tackle the Crystal Pool replacement project. I believe we must halt progress on the project until a thorough independent audit has been conducted on the bridge replacement.
Given that no funding has been secured for the pool from the provincial government as of yet, a halt in progress will not jeopardize anything. There is no reason for the speed at which we are once again trying to embark upon a major capital project. The Crystal Pool is being fast-tracked with unnecessary haste avoiding proper consideration of real and justified needs, public consultation, finding proper solutions for parking issues, and more.
